Orforglipron is an oral GLP-1 from Eli Lilly. It is not authorised for sale in Canada and cannot be prescribed here today — not by us, not by anyone. Here is exactly where it stands, with dates, and what we will do when that changes.

What we will do
When it is authorised, we will phone Ontario pharmacies and publish the real cash price with the date of the check — the way we do for everything else. Not a manufacturer’s figure. Not a US price converted.
And your fee will not change. Basal charges for the nurse practitioner’s review, not for the medication. Pen or pill, starting dose or top dose, the number is the same, because we do not sell the product and take no markup on it.
A clinic that bundles your medication into one monthly figure has a financial interest in which product you are on. We do not have one. That is the whole design.
Questions
No. As of November 2026 orforglipron has no Health Canada authorisation and no Drug Identification Number, so it cannot legally be prescribed or dispensed in Canada. Eli Lilly's submission was accepted into Health Canada review in January 2026, and Canada's Drug Agency began its reimbursement review in June 2026. Authorisation is not guaranteed.
No date has been announced. Health Canada has not issued a decision, and a manufacturer's supply plans can shift after authorisation. Commentary commonly points to 2027, but that is an estimate rather than an official timeline. Basal will publish the authorisation date when it happens, with its source.
There is no Canadian price, because there is no Canadian authorisation. In the United States it was approved on 1 April 2026 and sells for roughly US$149 to US$349 a month depending on dose. Canadian pricing is set separately and US prices are a poor guide to it. Basal will phone Ontario pharmacies and publish the real cash price, with the date of the check, as it does for every other product.
Not today. Nobody in Canada can, because it is not authorised for sale. If Health Canada authorises it, Basal's nurse practitioner will assess whether it is appropriate for a given patient under the clinical protocol, exactly as with any other medication.
No. Basal's fee does not change with the medication or the dose, because Basal does not sell medication and takes no markup on it. You buy the product at the pharmacy you choose and pay that pharmacy's price. A clinic that bundles the medication into one monthly figure has a financial interest in which product you are on. Basal does not.
Tell me when it lands
No charge, no obligation, and we will not email you about anything else. If you want to start on a GLP-1 that is available today, the eligibility check takes about a minute.

This page is information, not promotion. Orforglipron is not authorised for sale in Canada. Basal is not promoting it, cannot prescribe it, and makes no claim about its safety or effectiveness. Whether any medication is appropriate for you is a decision for a clinician after an assessment.
