Who runs Basal

Basal is a small Ontario company. A nurse practitioner reviews your file and decides whether to prescribe. You fill the prescription at any pharmacy you choose, and pay the pharmacy directly.

The company

Basal was founded by Pierre Blondo. He runs the business side: the website, billing and support. He is not a clinician and makes no clinical decisions.

Your nurse practitioner

Your care comes from a nurse practitioner registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario. She works with Basal under contract as an independent practitioner, not as an employee. Every clinical decision is hers: whether you are a good fit, what she prescribes, and at what dose.

How to check her registration

You get her name and her College registration number before anything is prescribed. Both are printed on your prescription.

To check them, search her name on the College of Nurses of Ontario's public register, Find a Nurse. It shows whether she is registered as a nurse practitioner and whether any limits apply to her practice.

How Basal is paid

Only one way: the fee for your nurse practitioner's review, $29 a month for our first 100 patients and $45 a month after. Basal takes no money from pharmacies, laboratories or drug makers.
